Scholar House is a program in which education is the primary requirement to enable the head of household to reach self-sufficiency. Participants must be full-time students, or enrolled as a full-time student in a degree, or specialty program, at an institution of higher learning and must have at least one additional year (24 credit hours) remaining for their degree completion. Case managers work with the program to help clients develop goal plans and monitor the client’s progress throughout the program.
The Paducah Scholar House Campus is comprised of 48, two-bedroom units in four separate buildings. Units include features such as ENERGY STAR rated heating and cooling units and windows. Also included in the units are ranges, refrigerators, and washer/dryer hookups. Residents also enjoy the on-site playground area and equipment and have the peace of mind in knowing that the site is secure with security features that include camera systems and ample lighting across campus.
Also on site is an approximately 7,000 square foot child development center and community area/building. The child development center offers a safe and structured program for the children of the tenants. The community area can be used by the residents for school studies, family functions, etc. In addition, the community area also contains a computer lab, warming kitchen, conference rooms, and community gathering space.
